If any of you took my advice on Shearwater’s Animal Joy, please follow me over to Maps & Atlas’ new album Beware and Be Grateful. Those two albums are dissimilar in so many ways that it might seem a weird comparison, but I think they have many core elements in common. Both share strong art-pop vocalists, solid indie-rock backing and a fluid approach to song composition. With Maps & Atlas, I can give you a few better RIYL bands, though. Pick up this record if you love TV on the Radio or other bands inspired by the Talking Heads and David Bowie.
